We are situated in 170 acres amongst the redwoods in Soquel, California, just south of downtown Santa Cruz, and adjoin 10,000 acres of state forest. Our physical location provides a perfect space for guests to relax, connect to their spiritual inner being, and recover from the strains of life. You are very welcome to stay with us at Land of Medicine Buddha even If you don't participate in a workshop or retreat. Room rates include the use of all facilities. You don't have to be a Buddhist to visit us! However, In order to develop the practice of love & compassion towards our fellow beings, we ask our guests to observe the 5 precepts of no killing (even bugs), no lying, no stealing, no sexual misconduct and no usage of intoxicants (tobacco, alcohol, drugs) during their stay.   While dogs are allowed on the property, out of respect for people with allergies, we do not allow them in our Guest rooms, Dining or hall areas. Meditation Hall and Memorial Shrine           Decorated in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, the Meditation Hall is a perfect place to sit in quiet reflection. The Memorial Shrine is a traditional Buddhist temple, with beautiful wall paintings depicting Buddha's life story. Set upon a hill, it offers a secluded spot for meditation. Vegetarian Dining Our dedicated chefs provide delicious vegetarian meals. Our main meal is a full sized and wholesome lunch. You are welcome to visit Land of Medicine Buddha and have lunch with us! But… we need 24 hours notice to let our Chef know there will be additional guests for meals, so please call the Reception Office at (831) 462-8383 between 10am and 4:30pm to make a reservation. Lunch is usually served at 12:30pm and is $12.50 including taxes. Dinner is only available when we have a group rental on site, at a cost of $10.50, including taxes. A continental breakfast is complimentary for our accommodated guests. During the last three years, Land of Medicine Buddha has taken strong steps toward using organic and healthier food for all our meals as well as biodegradable cleaning supplies. We take pride in using the best food available to us (organic, sustainable, no hydrogenated oils etc - see below) You might know that Land of Medicine Buddha serves Vegetarian Cuisine but did you know… Land of Medicine Buddha is committed to right livelihood and sustainability.
